perfection. something everyone wants to somehow “achieve”. perfection is something everyone desires to have; perfect choices, perfect clothes, perfect performances with their talents, perfect pictures, perfect captions, perfect looks, perfect boyfriend/girlfriend, EVERYTHING perfect. but the problem is we aren’t. we constantly seek perfection as if one day we can grasp it, but we can’t. perfection is a fantasy, something that we can glimpse at but it’s not an option. all throughout history people have attempted to grab perfection but they have constantly fallen. why do we continue to grab ahold of something if we’ve seen so many people already fail? the reason is we refuse to believe we can’t be perfect. mankind doesn’t want to be known for failures, only success. why would anyone want to remember fails when the could remember the glory moments that FELT like perfection. people feel at times a glimpse of perfection; they have risen above others and achieved a goal or dream that they have had their mind on. notice the “risen above others”...people feel better than someone else, they feel they are more perfect than their neighbor or friend, or someone they compare their self to. that’s where the devil gets us. manly perfection isn’t a thing, so when the devil whispers tiny doses of “perfection” in our ears we gobble it up. we want to be better than others, we want to be MORE perfect. instead of having a perfect led life however, we are leading a life driven by the devil. satan will do anything to appear glorious and sweet, however take a look at your life. is perfection leading it? are you trying too hard to rise above others with your measured success? success isn’t a bad thing, and neither is looking good or achieving great things. but it’s what goes through our minds and how we present ourselves that gives others the clues that we are trying to reach perfection. we all know those people on social media that “try to hard” to be perfect. do we really want to stoop down and lower ourselves to the devil’s level instead of rising up and being ourselves? perfect appears to be wonderful and complete, but how can our life’s be fulfilled when we are always focusing on what we could be, rather than ourselves? God is the one thing that is completely perfect. He himself created us in His image and gave us the perfect lifestyle for humans- not fully perfect like Him but perfect for us. we however made the decision to go our own way. WE wanted to reach perfection all on our own. obviously we didn’t succeed, and never will. the only way to experience something so perfect is by coming to know Jesus as our personal savior. we can’t even begin to imagine how glorious and majestic heaven will be. the closest thing to perfection is complete surrender of our lives to a savior who will bear every imperfection we have ever had and make it right again in the Lord’s eyes. we can’t strive to be gods by looking better or achieving higher goals. we can’t reach something that only God has made. we can’t keep letting ourselves be tricked that perfection exists on earth because we see glimpses of it in our eyes. Philippians 3:12 says “I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me.” setting our eyes on Jesus and His perfect love is what we should strive to be like. not looking perfect, or acting perfect, but surrendering our imperfection to Jesus so He can one day fulfill our lives with a place in His perfect kingdom.
